Welcome to Seavington

Seavington St Mary and Seavington St Michael are English civil parishes within the unitary authority of Somerset

Seavington St Michael and Seavington St Mary lie about 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Ilminster, within the South Somerset district. They sit in a hollow amid a wider landscape of low hills and valleys running broadly east to west. Historically part of the South Petherton Hundred, the area once comprised seven settlements (“seven tons”). Over time, these have gradually merged or disappeared, giving rise to the name “Seavington,” which forms part of the villages’ present names. At the local level, the affairs of the two villages are managed and represented by elected parish councils. Although they are technically separate bodies, they operate jointly as the “Seavington St Mary and Seavington St Michael Group Parish Council,” commonly known as “Seavington Parish Council.”
